Vera Playa The coast, with 6 km. of beachfront, part of which is reserved for nudism, is at the moment undergoing intensive urban development.

Three golf courses and two marinas are close by, and other attractions include the very poular water park (see photograph on Garrucha Information page) and health clubs, added to a relaxed suburban beach atmosphere gives Vera Playa a level of suburban comfort popular with those who prefer a flat beach terrain to mountainous dwellings. Vera Playa a is becoming an increasingly popular year round resort to live and take a holiday.

Generally the beach is very clean and tidy and in the summer season the Council place litter bins at frequent intervals down the beach and the beach is raked and larger items of litter are mechanically removed every morning. There are a number of lifeguards stationed down the beach (approx. 6 in the length of the naturist beach) throughout the summer season (July till mid September). They use a system of flags to indicate the safety of swimming (green = OK, yellow = caution, red= danger - no swimming). In the summer months buoys are placed to exclude boats from the first 250m or so from the shore for the safety of bathers and swimmers. Sea temperatures in summer are up in the mid to high 20s and even in winter are in the higher teens, so it is possible to swim in the sea all year round providing you are reasonably hardy. Anyone who swims in the sea in the UK in summer will have no problems with the winter sea temperature at Vera Playa and, of course, high summer temperatures are just bliss.

Vera Pueblo is an attractive market town and the principal centre in the region, As well as the main large shops and administation services Vera is renowned for its gastronomy, shopping centre and other amenities.Visitors here will feel they have found an authentic corner of Spain. The old part of the town has seen a lot of restoration and with its narrow streets, small squares and hidden restaurants is a quiet and pleasant environment. Nearby are the two golf courses of Valle del Este and Desert Springs and there is also tennis, horse riding close by as well as the miles of sandy beaches at Vera Playa.
